The small shelter is modeled after a historic beehive... inside, a historic beehive illustrates a bee colony and its individual inhabitants... right next to the shelter, you can also get the corresponding stamp for your hiking pass.

Used as a sheepfold until 1980, this building now houses a café and serves cakes from spring to autumn. The restaurant is located right next to the heath garden. In winter, it is also used as an event venue.

On the way to or from Wilseder Berg, you'll pass this beehive and learn about bees and their honey from the heath. There's also a stamping station here.

A spacious shelter with benches located a little way off the hiking trail. Behind the hut you can set up a tent on the meadow, hidden by the shelter if necessary. Just behind this shelter, the part of the Lüneburg Heath that is privately owned by a foundation begins to the south.

Very nice hut with logbook, well maintained. Tie-down bars for horses also available. Was a perfect break stop for our hike with two dogs and horse 😊

Great railway cycle path, great to ride!

Since the 1870s, every heath farm has had heathland, its own herd of sheep and its own beekeeping. The Bockelmann farm's sheep barn served as a summer barn at the time - the surrounding heathland was grazed from here. The farm's herd of Heidschnucke sheep existed until 1972, as one of the last farms - keeping Heidschnucke sheep became uneconomical. For decades, the sheep barn that "survived" has been a popular photo motif for postcards and photo reports, and is also a listed building. The barn is clearly too small for today's large Heidschnucke herds of the Nature Conservation Park Association (up to 1000 animals) - it is therefore only used as a shelter for agricultural machinery. From Brockel, the cycle path that was built in the 1980s on the old railway line goes via Bretel to Wittorf. From Wittorf, you can reach Visselhövede directly via the cycle path on the B440. There is a brand new connection from Sandhasenweg, the inner-city cycle path in Rotenburg, mostly on the old railway line towards Visselhövede, to the brand new Fidi-Boon-Wech via Hemsbünde to Brockel. This is the cycle path on the old railway line Rotenburg - Brockel. All in all, a great connection. Fast and interesting and of course it also works the other way round.
