There are only a few moated castles in the wider area and so the small and fine moated castle in Train is a change from the usual castles built on hills and rocks.

Beautiful complex with the remains of the once proud castle complex from the 11th century. The keep offers a magnificent view of the Altmühltal, the sometimes steeper climb is worth it and the €2 donation is definitely worth it.

The history of the village of Eining in the Kelheim district goes back to Roman times. The “Abusina” fort, which formed the end point of the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes, can be traced back to the first century AD. Beautifully designed open-air museum, it is open to visitors free of charge at any time. The Roman fort in Abusina - Eining is a former cohort fort and part of the Limes UNESCO World Heritage Site.
