                    The Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes has been a World Heritage Site since 2005 as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Borders of the Roman Empire". There are several well-preserved Roman relics in the immediate vicinity of Bad Gögging. The district of Hienheim marks the end point of the fortified Limes in Bavaria, before it merges into the "Wet Limes", the Danube.

                    In the district of Eining, the Roman fort Abusina is the most completely preserved fort in Bavaria. The open-air museum is elaborately prepared for educational purposes with interactive "time windows" that allow a glimpse into the past. During events such as the Roman Days "Salve Abusina" in August, Roman history comes to life in the fort: Authentic Roman groups bring the ruins to life and allow visitors to travel back in time. A guided tour of the fort takes place every Saturday from March 26th to September inclusive at 10:30 a.m.

                          Today's castle was built between 1694 and 1696 under Georg Caspar Emmanuel von Frönau on Offenstetten. As the engraving by Michael Wening at the end of the 17th century shows, it corresponds to today's palace complex. It is a three-storey four-wing building with three-quarter round corner towers that taper slightly towards the top and are closed off by a fourth, polygonal storey with onion domes. The small, also domed roof turret in the south indicates the location of the palace chapel, which was abandoned in 1877.
