The first church in Mietoinen was the wooden chapel church of St. James in the village of Hietamäki. The chapel and the Hietamäki parish are first mentioned in the Turku Cathedral Black Book in 1366, although the parish is probably older than this. The independent parish is thought to have become the Mynämäki chapel parish in the 14th century. The last church service was held in the Hietamäki chapel in 1731. If you still have time to the ferry, a short walk over the rocks to the lighthouse is recommended. Some nice photo opportunities!

We ate there the best Munkkis (Doughnuts) of whole Archipelago or even whole Finland. They were still warm and on top of that the place has a really charming atmosphere. Time has Kind of stoppend there. If I can suggest a place of munkkis world heritage it would be it! It’s next to the street, so easy for a quick stop and get some fuel in For cycling 🍩

Good idyllic place for a break before coming to Kustavi. You can sit well on the stones and watch the hustle and bustle in the bay.
