11월 4, 2024, Drava River Bridge
Emerges in South Tyrol (near Lake Dobiaco) in Italy, from where it continues to flow eastward, through the Austrian province of Carinthia, Slovenia, Croatia, then partly forms the Croatian-Hungarian border. At Donji Miholjec, the Drava turns into the depths of Croatia, towards Osijek, and finally at Aljmaš, on the border of Croatia with Vojvodina (Serbia), it flows into the Danube. In its extreme part, it forms the border between the regions of Slavonia and Baranja. The total length of the Drava is 725 km, and it is navigable for about 90 km, from the mouth of the Danube to the town of Čađavica in Croatia.

Nino has already copied a very valuable text about the old town, I would only add that it looks impressive in all seasons and is worth a look. There are signs prohibiting entry on the driveways.

The path up and down was very, very steep, and on the way down, there were some slippery slopes. The hut at the top is only open on weekends and public holidays (and probably also on the day before a holiday). Good fitness is required.

8월 13, 2023, Veliko Čevo Summit (562 m)
Čevo is the easternmost and most prominent peak of Ivanščica. On the south side it is quite gentle, and on the north side it is so steep that rocks have appeared in several places. Because of its pointed appearance, it is also called Zagorski Klek. At the very top there is a stone pillar and a box with stamps, but there is no view. The lack of a view is made up for by the views from two viewpoints nearby - Balkon, west of the peak, and Mali Čevo, east of the peak.

10월 31, 2022, Ruins of Pusta Bela Fortress
The fortified town of Bela (today Pusta Bela) has been a fortress and the center of the Ivano-Frankivsk population since the beginning of the 13th century. Their presence in this area is confirmed by the charter of Bela IV. from 1238. The Ivan family owned a large complex around Ivančica and Ivanec. The only material proof of the activity of the people of Ivano-Frankivsk is in the transmission of French architectural culture - in the Romanesque castles with a central defense tower that were brought to Croatia almost at the same time as they were created in France. This is confirmed even today by the remains of Pusta Bela, whose ruins preserve visible stone traces of a building with a circular floor plan within the remains of the ramparts. Pusta Bela is located at 430 meters above sea level, from where the passage through Belski dol was controlled. Not much remains of the former center of Ivano-Frankivsk, only the ruins of the city that burned down in 1481.

6월 15, 2022, Veliki Kalnik Castle Ruins
OLD TOWN VELIKI KALNIK The most impressive part of the Kalnik mountain is the area below the highest peak of Vranilec, where bare limestone rocks from the Mesozoic period erupt on the surface in the upper part of the Kalnik oak. There is also the complex of the old town of Veliki Kalnik, from which one of the most beautiful views of the rolling landscape of Prigorje opens to the south and southeast. The view of the excursionists is still captivated by the remains of the towers that merged with the steep rocks of St. Catalina. These are the same towers that became the first obstacle to the Mongol campaign of 1241, their conquest of this part of the world. "And when the view turns down the slope", as Kukuljević wrote, "the villages of Kalnik nobles have been scattered since time immemorial, who, according to Croatian custom for over six hundred years as free, independent parishioners, ruled themselves under their special Kalnik prefect". An old legend about Kalnik plum growers encouraged Šenou to write the work "Šljivari" and Mayer to write his historical novel "Mongols in Croatia". History records that the Mongols came under Veliki Kalnik in the autumn of 1241. Unable to win it on the assault, they decided to starve the defenders, led by the heroic prince Filip Bebek, through a long siege. Hunger and constant attacks exhausted them more and more. In the most critical moments, the local wisdom and courage come to the fore. This is how the legend is created, which reads as follows: “In the darkness of the night, when the Mongol guards dozed off and thus reduced their attention, some human shadows with branches on their backs approached the city walls. To the general surprise of the defenders, who were watching all this from the high towers, expecting some new Tatar hoax, they flew towards the walls of a plum branch rich in fruit. Then they realized that the people feed, support and help them. This was repeated several times. Juicy plums gave them strength and to the astonishment of the Mongols, the famine did not exhaust the defenders of the city. Therefore, the Tatars gave up further siege and moved on to the Adriatic in pursuit of King Bela IV. When the Mongols were defeated on the Grobnik field, King Bela IV, according to legend, declared the inhabitants of the Kalnik region - nobles, who were soon mockingly called - nobles - plums by their seducers, especially the purgers of Križevci.

5월 30, 2022, Čanjevo Fortress
During 2003, comprehensive archaeological research began on the organization of the Municipality of Visoko, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Restoration Institute. The aim of the research is to obtain more historical information about the importance, appearance and physiognomy of the fort itself, the construction of the excavated walls and their presentation for cultural and tourist purposes. Every year in October, the battle for Čanjevo is held on the fort itself, which depicts the conflict between the Ottoman army and the Visoko harams. The battle is organized by the high association of Praškocij's haramija, whose basic preoccupation is the research and popularization of the fortress and its history. Every year, a large number of visitors gather at this event, both locals and guests from all over Varaždin and neighboring counties, and it is the only event that raises citizens' awareness of this important part of our history and cultural heritage.

The medieval fortress was built probably in the 15th century as a burg of the Špirančić family. In the 16th century it was taken over by the Praškoci family. During the second half of the 16th century, it was transformed into a military fortress for the purpose of monitoring and guarding the border with the Ottoman Empire, and a crew of soldiers - harams - was housed in the fortress. Their task was to protect the civilian population and guard the border in this part of the Kalnik mountain massif. After the second half of the 17th century, the fortress is no longer mentioned in the sources, but archeological findings testify that it was abandoned and demolished only during the first half of the 18th century. Then the building material was partially blown up or collapsed into the base.

5월 30, 2022, Čanjevo Fortress
Čanjevo Fortress is located on the southwestern slopes of the Kalnik Mountains in the Municipality of Visoko, which territorially belongs to Varaždin County. There are very few historical sources about the fort, and more serious archeological research and excavations began only in 2003. In the area of today's remains of the Čanjevo fortress in the Copper Age, there was a smaller settlement whose inhabitants belonged to the so-called Retz - Cayary culture and lived in the area from Hrvatsko Zagorje to Western Slavonia in the period from 3400 to 2500 BC. Kr. Their settlement was inherited by members of the Vučedol culture, immigrants from Slavonia, who lived here from 2500 to 2300 BC. Kr. It is very likely that the settlement existed much later, in the Vinkovci culture, during the Early Bronze Age, when this position was abandoned for a long time.
