Normannstein Castle is impressively situated high above the town of Treffurt and offers magnificent views over the old town and the Werra Valley. The castle complex is well restored and can be walked around in a circle.

The Protestant Church of St. Boniface occupies a prominent position within the city, visible from a distance. Architecturally, it is a Romanesque church with early Gothic influences. The location of the church itself is also particularly noteworthy. From today's perspective, its construction, with the resources available at the time, can be considered a masterpiece of engineering.
