Heldra lies on the eastern edge of northern Hesse, where the Heldrabach stream flows into the Werra River. The village is surrounded by Thuringian territory on three sides. At the northern edge of the village, State Road 3244 and District Road 6 meet; both lead to the nearby Federal Highway 250. To the south, across the Werra River on the Thuringian side, rises the 503.8 m high Heldrastein mountain, which gave Heldra its name. Source: Wikipedia
