Kröv, idyllically situated on a bend in the Moselle River, has been an important wine-growing town for centuries. The steep vineyards characterize the landscape and are ideal for growing the Riesling grape, which made Kröv famous. Monks systematically cultivated wine here as early as the Middle Ages, but the town gained worldwide fame through its cult wine 'Kröver Nacktarsch,' which is particularly prized for its quality and unique tradition. Visitors to Kröv experience winemaking history, the romanticism of the Moselle River, and the close connection between landscape and culture all in one.

Whether the view from the castle or from Bernkastel-Kues to the castle, both perspectives are worthwhile.

The Moselle with its vineyards

The square is characterized by its unique grace and dignity, setting it apart from other market squares in Germany, as it combines attractive coziness with carefree cheerfulness, thus becoming the town's living room. It also serves as its ballroom, the focal point and heart of its life. The 400-year-old half-timbered houses, the Renaissance Town Hall (1608), the St. Michael's Fountain (1606), and the much-admired, charming "Pointed House" (1416) reflect the living poetry of the Middle Ages. The filigree work of the fountain grille, the ornaments and colorful beam drawings in the half-timbering of the houses, and the ornate weather vanes on the roof gables still bear eloquent witness to the town's former prosperity and history. The Bridge Gate of Traben-Trarbach on the Moselle River is the town's landmark and stands on the southern bank of the Moselle Bridge. Designed by Bruno Möhring as a decorative bridge closure, it has housed a café-restaurant since its construction. In the 1960s, a renovation added a gallery with temporary exhibitions. Landshut Castle is located on the western slope of the Hunsrück above Bernkastel, a district of Bernkastel-Kues. In my opinion, that's real engineering. Such a wide span and such delicate construction.
