For centuries, the organ has rightly been considered the queen of instruments. It is the largest and, in most cases, the most magnificent instrument, often equipped with the tonal volume of an entire orchestra. A queen of a very special rank is the great organ of the Abbey Church of Himmerod. This organ is not only the most important and imposing in the entire region, it also made history in post-war German organ building. To this day, this organ, built in 1962 by the venerable Bonn organ building firm of Johannes Klais, is considered a prime example of innovative organ building, a successful synthesis of classical craftsmanship and the challenges of contemporary, modern organ building.

The monastery church is worth a visit after the first 9.5 km, which lead through the forest. You can mostly walk in the shade of the trees, but you'll arrive at the church. Yesterday, there was a craft market there with interesting offerings. The monastery shop also has some lovely items (it has its own fish farm). The rest of the route follows a path along the Salm River back to Molitorsmühle. A great hike!

She was married to Zacharias and the marriage remained childless, which was a social stigma at the time. But despite her advanced age, she became pregnant, which the Archangel Gabriel told Mary when he brought her the message that she herself would give birth to the Son of God, Jesus. The son of Elizabeth and Zacharias was John, nicknamed “the Baptist,” who is considered the forerunner/pioneer of Jesus Christ.
