Located directly on the Eifelsteig, the well-preserved Himmerod Abbey invites you to visit. The baroque abbey church is worth seeing and in the small art and bookshop you will find not only theological literature but also works by the Himmerod monks and products made especially in the abbey, such as abbey beer, monastery liqueur, mustard and honey.

Very nice monastery complex. A visit to the baroque monastery church is particularly worthwhile. Particularly impressive are the 33 windows, more than 10 meters high, in the largest Rhenish baroque church and the beautiful high altar. In addition, the monastery restaurant offers a varied menu for a stop at the end of the 12th stage of the Eifelsteig.

The Cistercian monastery was founded over 900 years ago as the first of the order in Germany. Unfortunately, it was disbanded in 2017. However, the monastery is still a spiritual center and a very special place of rest.
