The western bank of the Outer Alster has more spacious parks and promenade paths than on the other side. And - very important when strolling! - the left bank is bicycle-free; a pleasant change every now and then in Hamburg. 👏

The architect and urban planner Bernhard Hermkes (1903 to 1995) is considered a pioneer in the use of concrete in shell construction and folding structures.
