Many, mostly young people, even without any further knowledge of French history. The comic series ASTERIX, which has been translated into many languages around the world, acquaints its readers with this, even though it is (supposedly) not possible to identify this fateful place with a specific location there: “I don't know any Alesia. Nobody knows where this Alesia is," claims Majestix, head of the small Gallic village that successfully resisted the Roman occupiers - thanks to the legendary magic potion of their druid Miraculix - for example in the volume "Asterix and the Avernian Shield".

The Parc of Buffon was created between 1733 and 1742, above Buffon and offers a wonderful view over Montbard and the Brenne valley. The park is made up of 14 landscaped, varied, planted terraces and is free to visit. Adjacent to the park are the remains of the former castle of the Dukes of Burgundy, with its two towers, the 46m high Tour de l'Aubespin and the Saint-Luis, both from the 14th century. The Saint-Urse church and ramparts are located at the top of the park and the Buffon museum at the bottom of the park.

This village is located in lush greenery in the heart of the National Forest Park, in a preserved valley. You will not find more than 40 inhabitants in the town. You will be able to admire its very beautiful castle, which is private and therefore not open to visitors.
