Bodenstein Castle, located above Wintzingerode, has a history dating back around 1,000 years. Well-preserved and restored, it is one of the jewels of the Eichsfeld region. The forest surrounding the castle offers picturesque hiking trails.

The Scharzfeld castle ruins are worth a visit. Many information boards provide information about the history of the facility. A restaurant invites you to linger. Many animals such as birds and squirrels can be observed on the circular path around the ruins.

The information board explains the sink point very well, super interesting. This is where the Sachsenstein-Klippen-Weg begins after crossing the tracks (please be careful and look around twice).

The inner castle courtyard is currently closed to day visitors 😏, thanks to the coronavirus. The beautiful outdoor area and a tour of the castle are possible and worthwhile.

Its origins date back to the 7th century, so it's really old. The castle courtyard is only accessible to guests 😏, but you won't be arrested for looking at the beautiful inner courtyard. One of the most beautiful castle complexes ever 👌👑
