Great fun for all ages. However, the drought this year can be seen everywhere. Still very nice.

After three weeks of hiking in Thuringia, I can say that this is the most beautiful natural spectacle I have seen. Great how the path meanders through the moss-covered rocks of the gorge.

In 1832 the Drachenschlucht was opened to the public. Oberforsrat Gottlob König managed this work. He received financial support from Maria Pavlovna - Grand Duchess of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. (...the Mariental was named after her, (and her sister Anna) ...the Annatal got its name from her. A capital "A" carved into the rock indicates this. (...from information board)
