A beautiful path along the Örtze River. Right by the water, narrow and close to nature. Just what you'd want. You'll need a sure footing, though. There are a lot of roots along the path.

The heath is always worth a visit – not just during the heather bloom in August, when the landscape transforms into a glorious purple. The nature park stretches over 480 square kilometers between the heathland villages of Eschede, Hermannsburg, Müden, Unterlüß, and Winsen (Aller). The Southern Heath Nature Park offers protection to animals sensitive to disturbance, such as the crane and the black stork. Herds of Heidschnucke sheep (Heidschnucke sheep) take care of the landscape – they regularly nibble on the heather. Numerous hiking and cycling trails lead through the hilly heathland, which dates back to the Ice Age. Beautiful hiking tour, not so crowded

On the Heidschnuckenweg, the stage from Faßberg towards Celle, the juniper forest and the adjacent heathland are the first highlights. The route runs across and then along the edge, so that you can really enjoy the juniper forest to the full.

Beautiful path along the Örtze river! Part of the Heidschnuckenweg between Müden and Poitzen. In summer and when it's hot, it's also popular with horseflies that lie in wait.

We always enjoy coming here when the heather is in bloom.
