물개 박물관은 특별히 크지는 않지만 물개에 대한 모든 종류의 흥미로운 정보를 제공합니다. 관심 있는 분이라면 방문할 가치가 있습니다.

The Ósar Hostel and the cottages across the road are beautifully located on the Vatnsnes peninsula. With a little luck, those staying there can spot not only sheep but also seals from their room windows. The Hvitserkur cliff is a short (black) walk along the beach. The view from the old farmhouse or the cottages over the fjord with its black sand beach and the sea is incredible.

Just a few meters from the shore of the Hunafjord, a petrified troll stands in the water, the Hvítserkur. It's probably one of the most photographed rocks in Iceland, despite being far from any major settlements and the journey to it over pothole-filled gravel roads is somewhat of an adventure. The reward is a truly unforgettable view of the bizarrely shaped monolith in the vastness of the fjord.

A particularly noteworthy commercial building at Hvammstangi harbor is Sigurður Pálmasons House. Sigurður Pálmasons ran a fairly large business with a shop, warehouse, slaughterhouse, and much more. The shop and office building was built in 1926 and remains an impressive building even today.

The Icelandic Seal Centre in Hvammstangi is a research and exhibition center that researches and details the lives of seals in and around Iceland. It is also the tourist information center for Húnaþing-vestra, Iceland's most popular destination for seal and wildlife watching. At the center, you can learn about the different seal species found along Iceland's coast, their lifestyles and habits, and how to distinguish them from one another on a guided or self-guided seal-watching tour. You will also receive information about the area's wildlife, including the infamous Arctic fox, the eider duck, the famous puffins, whales, and the region's rich marine and inland birdlife.

The seals and their fur seals lie on the opposite beach, soaking up the sun and warmth, unless a blizzard sweeps across the land in early June...

A bit hidden but interesting. There is also an information board (unfortunately only in Icelandic).

Definitely make a detour from the 1 on a gravel road heading north (approx. 25km)
