The district of Bad Stuer with a hydrotherapy facility run by the alternative practitioner (“water doctor”) Heinrich Friedrich Francke (pseudonym: J. H. Rausse) was founded in 1845. While the spa guests were initially treated according to the principles of water healing by Vincenz Prießnitz, the methods of healing treatment later followed the views of Sebastian Kneipp. With the outbreak of the First World War, the spa business gradually came to a standstill and finally ended completely when Russian and French prisoners of war were quartered. It's amazing how sloping the terrain is towards the lake. The old villas and buildings are embedded in beautiful, old trees and give an idea of their old splendor.

Beautiful large houses can be found in the Bad Stuer settlement.

Also highly recommended as a guided tour in winter (not all bears hibernate there). You can learn a lot of information and background knowledge about the park and the brown bears from the dedicated keepers.

Here bears are really kept under optimal conditions. They live in large enclosures, can hide, and have pools and caves. All animals originally come from poor husbandry and can spend their remaining time in this facility. Very well done!
