Phoenix Lake invites visitors to stroll and wander, the lakeside promenade offers a diverse range of restaurants and cafes, and the three-kilometer path around the lake is well-developed for pedestrians and cyclists. Besides the cultural island and the wine trail, there is much more to discover.

Beautiful lake, many people

Phoenix Lake in Dortmund is a man-made lake in the Hörde district, created on the former site of the Phoenix-Ost steelworks. After the steelworks was closed in 2001, the site was remediated and flooded in 2010 to create a new residential and recreational area. The lake covers approximately 24 hectares and is surrounded by a 3.2-kilometer circular path for pedestrians and cyclists. From the Kaiserberg dump to the east, there is a magnificent view of the recreational and new development area.

Phoenixsee is a modern recreational area in the Dortmund district of Hörde, created from a former steelworks site. Today, the artificial lake provides a picturesque backdrop. Cafés, restaurants, and green spaces along the shore invite you to linger.
