Directly adjacent to Lünen Lake Park is the Preußenhafen (Preussen Harbor) on the Datteln-Hamm Canal. It was once a coal transshipment point. Today, it serves as a rest area for recreational boating. The harbor is also a popular destination for walkers and cyclists. The canal promenade invites you to take a stroll with stunning views of the water. The harbor house offers an information service, restrooms with washing facilities, and a snack bar. Come and visit! The harbor master's homemade meatballs are an insider tip and have turned many a visitor into a regular. On the right shore of the lake, as seen from the beach, stands the approximately ten-meter-high "Bastion," a work of art by Erich Reusch. The white and red rods that comprise the work are reminiscent of oversized Mikado sticks.

The Datteln-Hamm canal runs south of the Lippe. I find it boring for hiking in places. I can recommend the canal for cycling.
