If you take a closer look while riding, or are just wondering...the countless small pieces of glass permanently scattered on the bike path aren't the result of boozy Father's Day rides with handcarts, but rather...vast amounts of additional broken glass were actually used in the construction of the dams on both sides. However, the small pieces had previously been smoothed through recycling and were/are no longer sharp. Just pay attention; they're lying around everywhere.

The Allersee is the recreational area in the city. Located between the districts of Stadtmitte and Teichbreite, Tiergartenbreite, it invites you to relax, and there are many sports facilities on the edge of the lake as well as many opportunities for activity or simply taking a quiet walk around it and enjoying nature.

Volkswagen Arena The Volkswagen Arena is the football stadium of the men's Bundesliga team VfL Wolfsburg. It opened in autumn 2002 and has space for around 30,000 spectators. Construction took 18 months and cost 53 million euros. The first game in the Volkswagen Arena was played between VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart. The club wanted to use the Volkswagen Arena to strengthen its international ambitions, particularly with regard to the Champions League. The Volkswagen Arena also offers event rooms for congresses, meetings and private parties.

History From 1954 to 1957, the boathouse of the Wolfsburg Canoe Club was built north of the Mittelland Canal; it was later expanded several times. In 1956, the "Heimatscholle" allotment garden was built on the site of today's Allerpark, and its clubhouse opened in 1957. By 1960, the campsite and the Nature Friends' home already existed. In 1962, the "Italian Village" was built west of the allotment garden as a housing development for single Italian guest workers; the two-story wooden barracks were demolished in 1978 and replaced by new buildings on the same site. Most recently, the buildings were used as the east office center of the Volkswagen factory; they were demolished to build the Volkswagen Arena. In 1962, the clubhouse of the Wolfsburg Marine Comradeship was also inaugurated on the north bank of the Mittelland Canal. In July 1958, the Wolfsburg City Council approved nine million DM for the planning of the Allerpark; on 26 March 1969, the Council gave its final approval.

The Allerpark is a public adventure park in Wolfsburg. It lies between the Wolfsburg towns of Neuhaus-Reislingen, Vorsfelde, Nordstadt and the city centre. Its centre is the Allersee, which was created at the end of the 1960s. The Allerpark is 130 hectares in size and is home to numerous leisure activities, including the AOK Stadium, the BadeLand, the Ice Arena and the Volkswagen Arena, as well as other freely accessible facilities such as beach volleyball courts, a skate park, outdoor fitness equipment and playgrounds.
