A beautiful little village right by the sea on the northeast coast between Agios Nikolaos and Sitia. Outside, there are a few lovely holiday homes overlooking the bay; the village center essentially consists of a lovely winding promenade with numerous taverns and a few streets beyond. Very idyllic, at least in early May.

Beautifully situated village between mountains and sea on the Agios Nikolaos - Sitia route. The village has many abandoned and picturesquely dilapidated houses and corners, as well as many newly built or beautifully renovated buildings.

The village is home to many abandoned and picturesquely dilapidated houses, as well as many newly built or beautifully renovated buildings. The surrounding countryside is great for hiking; we particularly enjoyed the area above, through olive groves toward the mountains.

A lovely stop on a hike – the tree is located just above Kavousi and can be reached in about 20-30 minutes, depending on the route and walking pace. Impressive trunk girth 😳 and an incredible age.
