⛲Fountain Monument “Otto the Rich”: In the center of the square stands the monument to the city's founder, Margrave Otto of Meissen. The fountain, dating from 1897, is a popular meeting place and photo opportunity.

🌳📜✨The statue of the originator of sustainability in Freiberg's Albertpark is dedicated to the important Chief Mining Officer Hans Carl von Carlowitz (1645–1714). It is a key stop on the Freiberg Silver Trail, which was completed in 2024. His work: In 1713, he published his major work, "Sylvicultura oeconomica" (Economic Forestry). The core principle: In it, he demanded that only as much wood should be harvested from a forest as can regrow through planned reforestation. With this, he laid the foundation for the modern forestry principle and, later, the general principle of sustainability.

This impressive monument—also known as the Market Fountain—featuring a bronze statue of Margrave Otto the Rich (1125–1190), stands in the middle of the Upper Market Square and is a popular spot for people to linger and meet. Four water-spouting heraldic lions adorn the monument. It was erected in 1897. Furthermore, it is an old tradition among local students to bathe in the fountain after passing their exams. Fortuna Fountain in Freiberg. Info: The fountain was created in 1986 by sculptor Bernd Göbel to celebrate the city's 800th anniversary. The beautiful goddess of fortune, Fortuna, sits atop a tree of life leaning towards a putto, letting good fortune flow from her cornucopia. Fortuna and the child appear to be engaged in thoughtful conversation. This scene conveys a message of hope and happiness to viewers, reflecting the history and heritage of the city of Freiberg.
