The monastery complex is well preserved. There is also a large restaurant and a nicer café serving delicious cakes. A small shop sells local specialties and devotional items as well as books and eiffel tourism.

The monastery was founded in 1134 by Bernhard von Clairvaux and is known beyond the borders. Even if the Cistercian Convention was dissolved in October 2017, Himmerod still presents itself today as a place of inner contemplation and encounter.

In the monastery restaurant you can eat and drink excellently and experience something of the monastery atmosphere.

Well preserved monastery complex, which is invitingly maintained. A large restaurant is on site as well as an even nicer little café of a bakery with delicious cakes. A monastery shop sells local specialties, devotional items, books and tourist information.

Located directly on the Eifelsteig, the well-preserved Himmerod Abbey invites you to visit. The baroque abbey church is worth seeing and in the small art and bookshop you will find not only theological literature but also works by the Himmerod monks and products made especially in the abbey, such as abbey beer, monastery liqueur, mustard and honey.

The abbey is worth a visit in many ways. The large church is worth a visit, as is the small shop with local treats and books or devotional items. You can visit a large restaurant. Nice but is the little bakery around the corner, where you can sit outside very nice. At the monastery is also a garden center.

Himmerod is a place where Cistercian monks have served God in prayer and work according to the rule of St. Benedict for almost 900 years. On October 13, 2017, the chapter of the Mehrerau Cistercian Congregation decided to dissolve the convention with immediate effect. Since then, the diocese of Trier has endeavored to preserve Himmerod as a "spiritual place" and - if possible - to lead it into a new future.

"Himmerod Abbey, founded in 1134, has been at its current location since 1136. In 1802, due to secularization, it was abolished and decay began. In 1919, Bosnian Trappist monks bought the former monastery, which was subordinated to its mother abbey, Marienstatt, in 1922. The monastery was dissolved in October 2017 ."

Contemplative and quiet unless Spangdahlem sends out the hunters. Nice little shop (also has stocks of Eifel whiskey) and a flower/plant/herbal shop with breeding.
