The juniper heath on the Schafberg is a natural gem. It's a great place to take a short breather. You can smell the aromatic air and enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding Eifel landscape.

From many heights around the town of Virneburg you have a picturesque view of the medieval castle ruins and the St. Trinitatis Chapel. The ruins are a great photo opportunity as they sit on the slate cone and guard the town.

A narrow path winds its way through the deciduous forest from the refuge to the viewing platform on the Brauberg along the steep mountain slope. It can be a little uneasy on this steep slope. Again and again you can catch a glimpse of the breathtaking view through the trees.

This place definitely deserves the name "Beautiful View". The viewing point is clinging to the steep slopes of the Brauberg. A small wooden balcony with a bench invites you to enjoy the wonderful view of the castle ruins and the town of Virneburg, the Nitzbach valley and the surrounding rolling hills of the Volcanic Eifel. Pure relaxation.
