Hunolstein Castle is the ruins of a hilltop castle at 395 m above sea level. NN in the district of Hunolstein in the municipality of Morbach in the Hunsrück. It is the former seat of the Hunolstein bailiffs and, according to legend, the seat of the Nibelung Hunold. The castle dates from the 12th century. It was conquered by Franz von Sickingen in 1522 and damaged so badly during the Thirty Years' War that it had to be abandoned in 1637.
