The Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas is located in the town of Neuerburg in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate. It was originally built in the 15th century and dedicated to St. Nicholas. The church is now protected as a cultural monument.

Nice romantic bridge

The choir of the former hospital church was built in 1437. The nave fell victim to arson in 1886. The paintings on the altar wall date from the time it was built. The services of the Hammerer Guild or Eligius Brotherhood took place in the chapel. This guild included professions that worked with hammers, such as goldsmiths, locksmiths, carpenters, bricklayers and carpenters. The members were called "loyal brothers", just as the church was popularly called "Loukierch", a derivation from the French form of the name Eligius. The interior of the church has a sandstone reticulated vault with keystones decorated with weapons, figures and flower vines. The keystones in the choir bear the coats of arms of the counts of Virneburg, Manderscheid, Rodemacher and Schleiden1. The consoles of the wall half columns show busts of the twelve apostles.

Above the castle complex is the pilgrimage site of the Neuburg citizens: The 46 cm tall Madonna, a replica of the Altötting Madonna from the 17th century donated by Kuno von Falkenstein, stands in a 700-year-old oak tree. Age and candle smoke have colored the statue of the Madonna dark brown, almost black. Station paintings of the Seven Sorrows of Mary, created by sculptor J.
