Always a popular starting point and a great photo opportunity. The symbol of the Ochsenkopf is somewhat hidden not far from the mountain stations of the chairlifts. Pay attention to the signposts, the way there is signposted. From the landmark you have a wonderful view over the Fichtelgebirge.

The loop around the lake is highly recommended. It's about 2.7 kilometers. The water is very boggy and more brown than blue.

Special rock formation with the symbol of the mountain that is hardly noticeable. It is now signposted.

A popular destination for hiking. There are benches here and you can refill the water bottle.

Also a beautiful trail in winter (winter hiking trail with groomed trails).

Great view of Bischofsgrün. Very attractive, especially in winter.

The name "Ochsenkopf" first appeared in mine records in 1495, when Lorenz von Ploben from Nuremberg received the mine on the Fichtelberge "near the Ochsenkopf" as a fief. At a height of 887 m, the White Main rises on the eastern slope of the Ochsenkopf, also known as the "Princely Fountain". Ever since it was bordered in 1827 with the inscription "Weißmainquelle", the spring has been a welcome stop on the Ochsenkopf ascent. Even Goethe is said to have taken a refreshing drop here, which I was denied during my visit today, as it really only "dribbled".
