Built between 1200 and 1240, the exact date of construction of this Romanesque fieldstone church on a cruciform floor plan is unknown – Ice Age boulders were used locally. St. Crucis features Gothic-style alterations, including the choir apse in the east and the organ loft. Bricks were used for the first time during these construction projects, and these bricks were subsequently used extensively in the Margraviate of Brandenburg during the so-called Brick Gothic period.

From the former Dangelsdorf, parts of the old enclosing wall of the cemetery or village green, in the middle of which the church lay, and the church ruins have remained unchanged.
