The historic Runkler stone bridge from 1448 is one of the oldest bridges on the Lahn! With the Runkler castle and old town in the background, it is an absolute eye-catcher 👍 https://www.kuladig.de/Objektansicht/KLD-267710

Single trail??? But I associate something completely different with that! This is actually a pretty nice path (mostly gravel) along the banks of the Lahn. But the path is wide enough for two cyclists to easily pass each other 😉

Very successful bridge structure (cable-stayed bridge) for pedestrians and cyclists. From here you also have a great view of the nearby Dietkirchen limestone cliffs with the Lubentius Basilica.

As a feeder to various trails along the Lahn slopes, it's OK. Otherwise, this route isn't really that appealing for real mountain bikers 😏

In the foreground is the very old stone bridge from 1448, one-way for cars, pedestrians and cyclists in both directions. Below the bridge upstream is the Runkel swimming pool and a lock for shipping. The castles of Runkel and Schadeck line the keeps to the left and right of the Lahn, with Runkel Castle making a better impression and being photographed the most.

Diez and the surrounding area offer beautiful hiking and cycling trails through the forests and fields of the Taunus, away from mass tourism!
