The ascent to the Herzogstand is worthwhile. Fantastic view of the valley and the Walchen and Kochelsee.

As long as you don't go up on the weekend, it's wonderful. But you shouldn't walk it with sandals or almost slippers like some tourists do.

You have a great view from here. The only disadvantage: 80% of Munich residents only know the Herzogstand and it's super easy to get up there. That means it is almost always very crowded here.

With the cable car up to the hut and then about an hour ascent via serpentines to the pavilion. From above you have a fantastic all-round view of the surrounding mountains. To the south you can see all the way to the Stubai Valley and admire the glaciers. For the way there, I would suggest sturdy shoes, it goes over roots and thick stones.
