The Karolinenwehr was built in 1364 Originally a simple overflow weir Was repeatedly badly damaged by flooding In the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries it was therefore repeatedly rebuilt and expanded until it became the current four-stage weir The two embankment walls east and west were also extensively renovated in the immediate vicinity in 2019 to 2020

Very impressive building and the enormous masses of water that fall down here. You have to see it, unreservedly recommended.
