The Luisenplatz Hut is picturesquely situated above Mayen, nestled in the city forest and the gentle hills of the Eifel region. It is considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the area and invites hikers to rest and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views. On the popular "Förstersteig" (Forester's Trail) hiking route, this spot is described as a highlight of the tour – offering a "stunning panoramic view over Mayen, the Maifeld region, and all the way to the Rhine." Just a few steps from the hut is a trigonometric survey point, which underscores the unique topographical location of the site. This prominent point was once used for geodetic measurements.

The Eiterbachweiher pond is located near Kürrenberg (a district of Mayen) in the Vorderwald or Vorderer Stadtwald of Mayen, nestled in the so-called Eiterbach valley.

Ideal picnic spot in any weather, and with a beautiful view!

There is also room for a group to take a break in the shelter. Waste bin included. Around the corner there is a forest sofa with a view of Hohenleimbach. The second half of the Bergheidenweg is not quite as interesting as the first half.

Especially on stormy days, the refuge offers a welcome shelter with its wide panoramic views.

The second half of the path is no longer quite as scenic in terms of landscape as the first half, unfortunately a large part of it is on country roads

There are numerous benches both inside and outside the hut, making it a comfortable place for larger groups to rest. From here, you can see the mountain heaths on the Raßberg and Büschberg hills. Unfortunately, there is no trace of the deserted village of Selbach, which was originally located on the high plateau.
