The value and significance of the Marksburg lie primarily in its complete preservation as a medieval fortification. For many visitors it is the epitome of a medieval castle. They provide insights into medieval life.

The way up is easy to walk

After a constant up and down through the Hunsrück forest, it is nice to enjoy a view like this every now and then. This section of the Saar-Hunsrück Dream Loop offers hikers several of them.

On the wide castle driveway you can quickly get up to the Maus
