The Lilienstein is a table mountain in the Saxon Switzerland National Park. The western area of the plateau is already very rugged, so it can only be reached via bridges.

If you stand here and look down into the valley, you will witness the constant change that our forests are going through. Once green and vibrant, many trees now show brown marks, signs of the bark beetle that has wreaked havoc in this area. But even if this scene makes the heart heavy, the view is still impressive. Secured by a railing, the view here is no less impressive in its melancholy - and it is also safe for children to access. The silence that surrounds the valley is broken by the majestic view of Hohnstein with its imposing castle, which stands proudly on a rock opposite. And further back, the picturesque Polenztal valley meanders along. A panorama that, in its beauty and at the same time in its vulnerability, conveys a powerful message: nature is in constant change, and it is in our hands how this story continues.

In the fascinating landscape of Saxon Switzerland you will always come across impressive natural phenomena and breathtaking viewpoints. One of these special places is the Wetterpine with a view of the Bastei. The weather pine: The weather pine is a sturdy, gnarled pine that has clung to one of the exposed sandstone cliffs over the course of many decades, perhaps even centuries. Despite adverse conditions, such as extreme weather and minimal soil, it has survived and now stands above the abyss like a symbol of nature's endurance and adaptability. The pine's gnarled, twisted branches and dense needles bear witness to the many storms it has weathered and the relentless power of nature. It symbolizes the harsh but impressive climate of Saxon Switzerland and the incomparable beauty of this region. Bastion view: In addition to the impressive weather pine, the location offers an unforgettable view of the Bastei, one of the most famous rock formations in Saxon Switzerland. From here you have a panoramic view of the majestic sandstone bridges and towers of the Bastei, which tower high above the Elbe valley. The river meanders like a silver ribbon through the green valley, and further mesas and rock formations can be seen in the background. Especially in the morning and evening light, when the sun's rays bathe the rocks in a warm, golden light and the shadows become longer, the view from the Weather Pine is simply magical. It is a place of pause, wonder and contemplation.

Not quite as nicely grown as the original, but no less picturesque with fog in the background.
