The Hünersedel is a mountain in the central Black Forest with a height of 744.3 m above sea level. Its name means "giant's seat". In a document from the year 926, the mountain is called "Stoufinberc". It lies in the border area of the two municipalities of Schuttertal and Freiamt. The summit of the mountain is at the northern end of the municipality of Freiamt. The river Schutter rises at the Hünersedel. The Hünersedel was the highest mountain in the old district of Lahr. From the tower you have a gigantic view.

The Canal du Rhône au Rhin connects more exactly the Saône, a tributary of the Rhône, to the Rhine. In Alsace, its banks have been paved from Marckolsheim to Strasbourg to allow easy cycling between the European capital and Colmar.

A ruin that is easy to reach and the way there is fun. Paths over hill and dale or well-developed hiking trails offer something for everyone. The remains of the castle are well maintained.

Actually, everything has already been said, but I have to say that this route - albeit very straight - is varied and extraordinarily beautiful.

The knowledge gained during the excavations in 1926-1929 about the completely removed outer and middle castle lead to the floor plans exhibited on site. Of these parts, only the worked rock can be seen. In the former middle castle there is a rain-protected rest area. There are still a few walls from the main castle, which have also been supplemented and secured. I have no idea why a millstone was walled in with it. In any case, the ruin is nice and quiet and is worth a visit.

The legend of the Grüselhorn has grown up around Lützelhardt Castle, according to which a gentleman from Geroldseck was abducted to Lützelhardt, discovered his whereabouts through a familiar horn call and was then able to free himself. After that, Lützelhardt was said to have been destroyed (around 1235).

Wonderfully relaxed cycling along the canal, it's always straight ahead. The route is also popular with racing cyclists. Asphalt is built between Marckolsheim and Strasbourg, from Neuf-Brisach to Marckolsheim good, fine gravel.
