The Luisenplatz Hut is picturesquely situated above Mayen, nestled in the city forest and the gentle hills of the Eifel region. It is considered one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the area and invites hikers to rest and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views. On the popular "Förstersteig" (Forester's Trail) hiking route, this spot is described as a highlight of the tour – offering a "stunning panoramic view over Mayen, the Maifeld region, and all the way to the Rhine." Just a few steps from the hut is a trigonometric survey point, which underscores the unique topographical location of the site. This prominent point was once used for geodetic measurements.

The Eiterbachweiher pond is located near Kürrenberg (a district of Mayen) in the Vorderwald or Vorderer Stadtwald of Mayen, nestled in the so-called Eiterbach valley.

A little above the bridge mill there is a wonderful little rest area at the "Hauerhütte" with a view over the wooded valley.

The newly made cabin is located on a 3.1 km barrier-free trail that has been completely cleared, making it easy for wheelchairs, walkers or strollers to wheel through. The hut itself is large and also barrier-free, there is even a barrier-free dixi toilet, didn't even know that such a thing existed. Outside there is a fire pit and more seating. Really well done.

The newly made hut is barrier-free and is located at the beginning of a barrier-free section of hiking trail (3.1 km) that has been newly laid out and completely sanded, so that the wheels of wheelchairs, walkers or prams can run easily. There is also a barrier-free Dixie toilet, didn't even know it existed!

The rest area seems to have been rebuilt at the former place of the Reining Hut. A very beautiful section of the Maas-Rhein-Weg (north route) runs to the west (Virneburg)

Unfortunately it was closed on Monday (like so many others) but we were able to exchange a few words with the friendly owner. She was very nice and looks forward to welcoming guests again. We will be back
