5월 28, 2025, Medvědí Skála Rock Formation
Bernstein Station 14 of the Royal Saxon Triangulation and Central European Survey It was also used for the Bohemian Triangulation. There is also a small information panel for this purpose. "The Royal Saxon Triangulation (here with its historical name) is a national survey carried out between 1862 and 1890 on the territory of the Kingdom of Saxony, with the simultaneous creation of a trigonometric network. The goal was to record the territory with scientific and geodetic precision and, by establishing permanently marked reference points, to create the basis for the production of accurate maps." - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%B6niglich-S%C3%A4chsische_Triangulirung From the station, the sightings were taken clockwise from the north to Schwartenberg, Frauenstein, Kahleberg, Wieselstein, Fichtelberg, Hirtstein, Udohöhe, and Saidahöhe. The nearby Grossenstein station on the Eduardova skála was added for accuracy.

In the middle of the Ore Mountains' raised bogs lies the Bärenstein, from which, on a clear day, you have a fantastic panoramic view of the Ore Mountains and the Bohemian Basin as far as the Bohemian Central Uplands. By bike, there are several ways to explore other sights, such as Lesna or the television tower on the Jedlak with a view of Chomutov and Jirkov.

"The Royal Saxon Triangulation (here with its historical name) is a national survey carried out in the years 1862 to 1890 on the territory of the Kingdom of Saxony with the simultaneous creation of a trigonometric network. The aim was to record the territory of the state in a scientifically and geodetically precise manner and to create the basis for the production of precise maps by establishing permanently marketed fixed points." - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%B6niglich-S%C3%A4chsische_Triangulirung The triangulation network created by August Nagel was considered one of the most precise surveying networks in the world at the time. The Nagel columns are now preserved as technical monuments. Unfortunately, no other stations can be seen from the Kannelberg, but the mountain can be seen from other stations. For example, Sandberg in Frauenstein, Opitzhöhe above Freital, Neuklingenberger Höhe, etc.

We are from Rehefeld on the winter toboggan run to the Hemmschuh, then along the railway embankment to the Teichhaus, on the other side of the street along the Freiberger Mulde and steeply uphill via Dreidellenweg to the Drachenkopf 👍🤩 Departure then to the Teichhaus and again steeply uphill to the Steinkuppe with the summit cross 👍🤗E MTB or E trekking bike required☝️😄

The Steinkuppe is one of the 8000s in the area around Rechenberg-Bienenmühle 😆... measured in decimeters, of course

The vantage point with benches is beautifully situated in the forest, but there is no longer a real view. There are two accesses, one easy and one steep.

The Steinkuppe in Holzhau not only has a beautiful summit cross, but is also part of the new "BLOCKLINE" mountain bike route. It leads from Holzhau to Altenberg - Geising - via Hermsdorf - Schellerhau - Bärenfels - Frauenstein - Mulda - Dorfchemnitz to the Blockhausen Forest Adventure Center - then on to Sayda, Neuhausen - Seiffen and back to Holzhau. A total of 140 km is divided into three loops of approx. 50 km. The route is completely signposted with a B on a yellow sign and milestones, information boards and carved benches show the way. A starter package with adventure manual keeps the tension! It is suitable for children from the age of 8 and is intended for professional mountain bikers as an alternative with friends and as a family adventure. But also recommended as an occasional activity for a lot of fun on a day off, because thanks to e-bikes it is easy to do even for inexperienced people. Many highlights are waiting by the wayside! Let yourself be surprised. . .

On the summit of the Kannelberg is the historic surveying column of Station No. 80 Dragon's Head of the Royal Saxon Triangulation. "The Royal Saxon triangulation (here with the historical proper name) is a state survey carried out in the years 1862 to 1890 on the territory of the Kingdom of Saxony with the simultaneous creation of a trigonometric network. The aim was to record the national territory scientifically and geodetically and to create the basis for the production of precise maps by establishing permanently marked reference points." - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%B6niglich-S %C3%axial_triangulation The columns are still preserved today as technical monuments. At that time, the Kahleberg, Wieselstein, Schwartenberg, Saidahöhe and Frauenstein were targeted from the Drachenkopf from O.N.N.

Medvidi skala (bear stone) is a trigonometric point on a cliff. From there you have a fantastic all-round view.

Kannelberg comes from the former cable car with "Kannerln" between the lime works and the summit area where the limestone was stored

There is a triangulation column on the Schwartenberg. From here one observed the Saida heights (N), Drachenkopf / Kannelberg (NE), Wieselstein (O), Bernstein (S) and Lauschhübel (SO) "The Royal Saxon Triangulation (here with the historical proper name) is a land survey carried out between 1862 and 1890 on the territory of the Kingdom of Saxony with simultaneous creation of a trigonometric network. The aim was to precisely record the national territory scientifically and geodetically and to create the basis for the production of precise maps by defining permanently marketed fixed points.
