Visitors to the city are fascinated by the moving installation at the Kunsthaus Burghausen with its lively view. In the former customs house in Burghausen above the Salzach on the border with Austria, artists regularly meet to talk about art together, create works of art or get inspiration. In front of the Simbach Inn Bridge, the Inn god Aenus, a modern bronze sculpture by the sculptor Dominik Dengl, greets passers-by today - at least those who come from the Bavarian side. Aenus is sticking his backside out towards the Austrians, which earned the artist Dengl some criticism when it was installed in 2008. In the meantime, the waves have calmed down. What only a few people know: a representative bridge portal stood at this spot until 1945. The old bridge was built from granite between 1892 and 1894 and had a five-arched iron structure as the superstructure. Important note: CLOSURE All paths and trails above the dirt park, the climbing tower and the mini golf course were closed to cyclists by order of March 7, 2023 by the Rottal-Inn District Office. The Rottal-Inn District Office is responsible for issuing this order in accordance with Article 44, Paragraph 2, Sentence 1 of the Bavarian Nature Conservation Act (BayNatSchG) and locally in accordance with Article 3, Paragraph 1 of the Bavarian Administrative Procedure Act (BayVwVfG). Due to the presence of reptile species protected under European law, any violations lead to the implementation of prohibited species protection provisions in accordance with Section 44, Paragraph 1, No. 1 of the BNatSchG.
