Characteristic for the appearance of this landscape, which is important not only for culture but also for a large number of species, are the areas with common heather, which are divided into large areas by juniper stands and show a small-scale and dynamic location mosaic. On inland dunes there are transitions to dry grassland with bent and silver grass. In groundwater-affected, partly boggy depressions, damp heaths with bell heather can be found, in which the inflorescences of the endangered bog lily set yellow color accents. The well-preserved and still fully active water mill in Maschen-Horst is a popular meeting place for families, cyclists, canoeists and walkers. Located directly on the Seeve, the rippling of the water has a calming effect on every visitor. You will also find a stage of the Seeve cycle path here. The mill dates back to 1529 or earlier and is owned by the Schmanns family, who run the "Zur Horster Mühle" restaurant with great love.

Its origins date back to 1731. It was initially used as a stream and smokehouse for one of the larger farms. Such buildings were built on the outskirts of the village in the 18th century for fire protection reasons. Later it was used for residential purposes. And today? The Hanstedt registry office offers the possibility of holding weddings in the "Weseler Hexenhaus" branch in stylish historical surroundings.
