Please stay on the paths, because dune protection is island protection

A hike around the Odde is a wonderful experience, experiencing two different coastal landscapes on the outward and return journey. If you're lucky, you might even spot seals resting at the northern tip, so be sure to bring your binoculars. From here, you can also see the south coast of Sylt, including the Hörnum lighthouse, as well as the west coast of Föhr.

Greetings from the Lüneburg Heath, but we're here on the North Sea island of Amrum. Simply stunningly beautiful during the flowering season in August/September.

Anyone who has made it this far will need just as much time to walk through the Kniepsand to reach the water.

Norddorf (in Öömrang "Noorsaarep") is, along with Süddorf ("Sössaarep"), the oldest of Amrum's villages. Both villages were first documented in 1464, but both were already settled in prehistoric and early historical times. In 1925, a major fire destroyed many houses in the historic village center. Since then, in contrast to Nebel or Süddorf, the villagescape has been dominated by newer houses without thatched roofs.

At 32 meters, it is the highest dune on Amrum. From here, you have an excellent view over the dune landscape all the way to Hörnum on Sylt, or across the municipality of Norddorf to the northern tip of Amrum, the "Odde."
