The Fürwiggetalsperre is one of the four dams that were built by industry around the turn of the century to store the energy for the water-powered machines in the Versetal's factories. It was inaugurated in 1904. This is why this barrage was originally called the "Versetalsperre", but later, when the new Versetalsperre was built between Lüdenscheid-Treckinghausen and Neuemühle, it was renamed the "Fürwiggetalsperre" after a tributary.

Not far from the nearby hiking parking lot. Informative information boards about the reservoir. Also a very nice walk in the snow. January 17, 2021
