The Heilenbecke Dam was built between 1894 and 1896 in the area of the present-day towns of Ennepetal - near the district of Rüggeberg - and Breckerfeld in the Ennepe-Ruhr district and is the oldest dam in South Westphalia. The dam is operated by the Heilenbecke Water Association.

The Heilenbeck Dam was built between 1894 and 1896, making it the oldest dam in South Westphalia. It served as a water reservoir for the hammer mills and grinding mills along the Heilenbecke. Today it is mainly used to produce drinking water. A 2.4 km long circular hiking trail runs around the picturesque dam.
