City Park, Vienna since 1862 The City Park is Vienna's first public park and was opened on August 21, 1862. The City Park is where picturesque meadows, extensive water areas and artistically arranged ornamental shrubs meet. Tall avenue trees serve as a natural barrier to the Ringstrasse. There are special tree species, such as ginkgo, Christ thorn, pyramid poplar and Caucasian wingnut, which are protected. The City Park is not only beautiful and relaxing, but also full of history and culture, making it a popular destination for visitors from all over the world.
