The Tannensee in the Urner Alps is the upper reservoir in the source area of the Grosse Melchaa, a tributary of the Sarner Aa. It is located in the Swiss canton of Obwalden in the municipality of Kerns in the area of the summer and winter sports resort of Melchsee-Frutt and on the mountain saddle between the Tannenalp and the Melchseealp. The hike around the lakes is wonderful. A steep climb just after the first lake and then on the ridge over and down to the second lake. You can also take the small tourist train.

The Melchsee-Frutt region is an absolute highlight with the Melchsee! The hike on the Balmeregghorn past the Melchsee is highly recommended! There is also a lot to discover around the lake for families with children
