Largest lake on the four lakes hike. Relatively touristy but well done with nice rest areas.

The barbecue areas are very clean and equipped with everything you need: table, benches, barbecue area, wood, cleaver, barbecue tools.

I find the circular hike (14 km or 4 1/2 hours) from/to Melchsee-Frutt particularly beautiful in midsummer. Then the abundance of flowers is immense, you will find (peacefully) grazing cows everywhere and you can hardly get enough of the panorama of mountains and lakes. Beautifully landscaped, easy high-altitude hike. The less strenuous route leads over the Tannensee with a leisurely climb to the Balmeregghorn.
