The extremely impressive monastery church in the Eifel town of Steinfeld houses the grave of Saint Hermann-Josef, who lived and worked here as a Premonstratensian monk. The Victor Neels Bridge spans the Urftsee at this point and, with a very successful steel cable suspension bridge construction, forms a great transition for cyclists and hikers. The bridge is named after the former commander of the Belgian forces at Camp Vogelsang. Great experience when it starts to rock 😁.

The former NS-Ordensburg Vogelsang is not only one of the largest buildings of National Socialism, due to the military use after the Second World War as "Camp Vogelsang", the place also reflects the path from the "Cold War" to today's Europe.

The church is an oppressive place. Just a plain cross on the ground and a few places to sit. Candles are lit by visitors. Currently you can find more and more candles for the end of the Urkaine war. I think this is a very special place for these very special wishes.
