The former moated castle, with its almost square floor plan measuring approximately 70 by 60 meters, is built on 190 cm thick outer foundation and ground floor walls and consists of a total of five floors. Two round towers rise at the northern corners of the building, their conical roofs slightly projecting above the hipped roof of the main building, thus lending the property a defensive character. Seßlach's Old Town - One of the Most Important Historic Town Centers in Germany First mentioned in documents around the year 800, Seßlach was elevated to town status in 1335 by Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria. The old town is surrounded by a fully preserved city wall with defensive towers and three gates, which are closed on weekends. After that, the town is only accessible on foot, allowing visitors to enjoy the medieval atmosphere undisturbed. The old town boasts numerous lovingly renovated half-timbered houses and historic buildings, such as the former district court, the Royal Bavarian salt factory, and the old grain granary. Regular city tours take place every Sunday at 2 p.m. from April to September. Registration is not required. Source: https://www.sesslach.de/index.php/sehenswertes-besonderes

It is privately owned so unfortunately you can only get a glimpse of it through the gate.

The castle is well hidden behind a wall. You can only catch a glimpse of it through the open gate.

The Baroque palace was built in several phases at the end of the 17th and 18th centuries (1694-1786) as a summer residence for the abbots of Langheim. During the first phase, the Langheim abbot Gallus Knauer had the eastern wing built between 1694 and 1698, based on plans attributed to Johann Leonard Dietzenhofer. The later sections of the west wing and western central wing were originally constructed as four-story outbuildings. The four floors reached a total height equal to the three living floors of the first building section. However, by the end of the 18th century, there was already a desire to make the palace-like three-wing complex more prestigious.
