What a beautifully restored manor house, Grube Castle.

The Wittstock Gate is integrated into the construction of the "New Castle." The castle tower was built on top of the gate.

Freyenstein has had town charter since 1287, but today it has only about 800 inhabitants! It was first mentioned in a document as Virgenstene. Freyenstein's special feature is the archaeological park. Also worth mentioning is the Old Castle. It was built in the 16th century and is only partially preserved due to destruction during the Thirty Years' War. The church is a three-aisled hall church, built largely of fieldstone, with a fieldstone tower. Buttresses support the building on the outside, and the interior is topped with groin vaults. The altar, dating from the early 16th century, features a painting of the Transfiguration of Christ.

The fashion museum in Meyenburg Castle is a little insider tip! A great collection that goes back to the private collection of Josefine Edle von Krepl and lets you immerse yourself in women's fashion from around 1900 to the 1980s. The collector still leads tours of her collection herself!

Today, the restored castle houses a museum dedicated to the history of the house and the living culture of the Brandenburg landed gentry, using the example of the Gans Edlen Herren zu Putlitz family. Concerts and civil weddings take place in the castle's beautiful garden hall, and church services are held in the castle chapel, as well as church weddings and baptisms.

Several friends raved about the fashion museum in Meyenburg Castle. During our visit, we were amazed at how many dresses from different periods from 1900 onwards are on display there. It is the former private collection of Josephine Edle von Krepl, a fashion designer from the former GDR, who ran the museum herself from its founding until her 74th birthday. Only about 10% of the collection is shown in the exhibition. We also liked the historical classification and the completion with photos and accessories from the time. We really liked it. Admission 8 euros, photo permission 2 euros. There is also a cute, authentic café with collectible crockery and a registry office in the castle.

Around 1300, the Counts of Ruppin had a moated castle built to secure their rule, which was first mentioned in a document in 1325. In 1424 the castle served as a residence for the robber barons Hans von Bosel and Klaus von Königsmark. When the Counts of Ruppin died out, the castle passed to Elector Joachim I as an episcopal fiefdom in 1524. Around 1548, Johann Gans Edler von Putlitz was appointed administrator of the castle by Elector Joachim II.

Wittstock emerged from a Slavic settlement and was first mentioned in the foundation deed for the Havelberg diocese in 946, making it one of the oldest cities in Brandenburg.
