Relaxed ride along the canal, but not suitable for inline skaters due to the surface

This is a really beautiful pedestrian bridge. Cyclists please dismount! (and enjoy). The Slinky Springs to Fame spiral bridge winds its way casually over the Rhine-Herne Canal in Oberhausen in 496 aluminum arches. Tobias Rehberger designed the bridge for the Emscherkunst in the 2010 Capital of Culture year at a location where a bridge that no longer exists once connected the Emscher Island with the historic Kaisergarten. Beautiful route, right on the water, interrupted twice by the canoe club and the former Bootshaus restaurant, and behind the stadium by the railway line. When the weather is nice, especially at the weekend, it's more of a leisurely walk, as there are lots of walkers. In terms of surface quality, it's a bit washed out, especially after the winter, but even with 32-inch tires, with a bit of attention and without being shaken around too much, it's still doable at over 25 km/h.

We cycled the canal to get from the Rhine to the Dortmund-Ems Canal. Because the Ruhr area is gray. We were taught otherwise. Lots of nature with beautiful bike paths.

A truly magnificent view of the Rhine-Herne Canal in both directions. Highly recommended mornings and evenings at sunrise and sunset.
