Hiking around and through the Schneeberg is something truly special, with its beautiful vegetation and rock formations. Magnificent views await you at the top of the plateau.

The history of meteorological observations here on Śnieżka begins in 1824, but the first observatory was here since 1900. This one is named after Tadeusz Hołdys, who directed it for many years. Beautiful views!

Čerchov, whose German name is "Schwarzkopf", is the highest mountain in the Bohemian Forest. There are two towers and a row of barracks on the summit. One tower is an observation tower built in 1904. The other tower, peppered with listening devices, was used as a reconnaissance post by the Soviets and the Stasi until the fall of the Berlin Wall and later by the Czech army until after 1990. For this reason, it was not permitted to climb to the top of the mountain for a long time. The reconnaissance station is part of a chain of similar listening posts along the German border and continues northwards over Velký Zvon (859 metres), Havran (894 metres) and Dyleň (939 metres).

The Dreisessel in the Bavarian Forest border triangle is one of the most popular excursion and hiking destinations. Well-signposted paths lead to its peaks Dreisesselfels, Hochstein and Bayerischer Plöckenstein (Czech: Trojmezná hora), offering a wonderful view of the Bavarian Forest, the Bohemian Forest and the Mühlviertel.

Sněžka (Polish Śnieżka, German Schneekoppe) is, with its 1603 m (previously stated figure 1602 m), the highest mountain in the Giant Mountains, Sudetes, Silesia, Bohemia, and the whole of the Czech Republic. Considering that the peak of Sněžka is located in Poland, the highest peak lying within the borders of the Czech Republic is Luční hora, 1555 m high. Sněžka is an important landmark of the eastern part of the Giant Mountains.
